Brown Cup's Pesto Buttered Pork Chop

My friend Clawja brought me to this place first almost a year ago which is not really very far from work. Brown Cup is a coffee shop located at the Skyrise Building in IT Park Lahug, Cebu City. Like other coffee shops they serve brewed coffee, our all time favorite latte (blended with ice or served hot) and tea. They also have sandwiches, cakes and pastries but these are not the food that keeps me coming back to this place but it's their Pesto Buttered Pork Chop

This pan fried tender pork chop marinated in pesto sauce tastes really good. The taste of herbs and spices complementing with the pork and melting butter is what gives it a very good taste. Served with 1 cup of rice and a free 8 ounce of Iced Tea makes the meal perfect. For a very reasonable price of  95 PHP I would say it is money well spent.

I've brought a couple of my friends to this same place and let them try it and they all agreed that it tastes great.

TRIVIA:

Pesto is a sauce originating in Genoa in the Liguria region of northern Italy (pesto alla genovese). The name is the contracted past participle of pestâ ("to pound, to crush", from the same Latin root as the English word pestle), in reference to the sauce's crushed herbs and garlic.

Ingredients and Preparation

Pesto is prepared in a marble mortar with a wooden pestle. The basil leaves are washed, dried, placed in the mortar with garlic and coarse salt, and crushed to a creamy consistency. The pine nuts are added and crushed together with the other ingredients. When the nuts are well-incorporated into the "cream", grated cheese and then olive oil are added and mixed. In a tight jar (or simply in an air-tight plastic container), pesto can last in the refrigerator up to a week, and can also be frozen for later use.
